Lawton Dedicates Victory to Injured Keeper Sisk

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — Substitute goalkeeper Todd Lawton delivered a commanding performance between the posts and kept a clean sheet in the Chinatown Soccer Club’s convincing 5:0 victory over the disappointing M25s at Pier 40 earlier tonight.

“I just did my job. Mike’s injury was on everyone’s minds so that’s the least I could do,” Lawton said afterwards.

British center-back Duncan Hamilton declared the brilliant performance “one that we all worked very hard for. This one is for you Sisko,” he said during a post-match interview.

The CSC did indeed get tested by a feisty M25 side and went into halftime with only a narrow 1:0 lead, courtesy of Swedish forward Pierre Byman who once again impressed with his off-the-ball movement.

Latwon’s collision with an opposing striker towards the end of the first twenty minutes was reminiscent of the horror tackle which sent Sisk to the emergency room in the CSC’s victory over the Dream Team at Forsyth Road last week.

Yet it also seemed to rally the team around their new keeper.

“We had a talk at halftime and everyone felt that we owed it to Sisko to make it back to back victories,” said Spanish midfield dynamo Rafael Herrin-Ferri.

The CSC was also missing Manchester winger Gavin Thomas who got injured in training earlier this week.

This came on top off the two week ban for prolific striker Mike Messenie for failing a drug test in July.

“I was on a vision quest,” Messenie said after traces of psychedelic mushrooms were found in his urine sample.

The Brazilian duo of Pedro and Sandro also looked sharp in their first game after a surprise double-transfer went through earlier in the week.

The CSC’s traditionally loyal support seemed to agree that they witnessed a performance for the ages.

“This is what coming to Forsyth Road is all about,” said a shaggy-haired character who would only give his name as KT.

“I’ve never seen them play like this. They were outstanding, especially in the second half,” added KT who also said that this was the best possible way for the team to send a positive message to their injured colleague.

With a perfect record of six points from two games the Chinatown Soccer Club put itself in a good position for the play-offs towards the end of the month.
