Formed in 1986 “Galaxie 500″ became one of the most pivotal bands of the late 80’s underground music scene. Their dream-like sound proceeded the early “Shoegaze” and “Slowcore” movements of the early 90’s, seeding the framework for many of their contemporaries to later thrive within. “On Fire”, released in 1989, set the stage for band’s break through, only to be undermined with the bankruptcy of their record label Rough Trade, which ultimately let to the bands break up… a sad outcome for such a brilliant band who were clearly ahead of their time.
