It was 2001 and the Electroclash NYC scene was at an all time high, bubbling like an uncorked bottle of celebratory champaign… During this energetic run of debaucherous dance floor sex, drugs, fashion and music, a few bands rose to the surface, handing off truly great pieces of work, before stepping back into the aether and sinking with the rest of the Larry Tee ship. Soviet was one of those bands… typecasted like the rest, and playing the 80’s revival game, they delivered a record that rivaled any of the 80’s greats… Depeche Mode, OMD, New Order, etc. Packed full of nostalgia, this record takes you back, delivering an array of synth-pop hooks and dance floor melodies… like it’s 1983 all over again. Electroclash will one day resurrect and bands like this be discovered, celebrated and paraded as the forgotten acts of the early 2000’s.
