Southeast Asia

27 November 2007

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — The following report on the CSC’s planned expansion into the Southeast Asian market by the club’s chief scout and former midfield great Hosi Simon was leaked to the Newswire late last night.

After several editorial meetings and despite a call to our offices by a furious Coach Stochl commanding our managing editor to “not even think about running this,” the Newswire has ultimately decided to share the document with its readership.

Vietnam and Cambodia

By Hosi Simon (CSC Head of Scouting and Youth Development)

As we all know Southeast Asia is a very lucrative market for top teams around the world, and as a territory cannot be overlooked  by a team like the Chinatown Soccer Club. That is if we are as serious about expanding our business outside New York’s Chinatown as we have always talked about.

But having scouted both Vietnam and Cambodia I do have to advise that we better focus our efforts on the more immediate territories, such as Europe and the rest of the U.S. Or maybe even just other neighborhoods of NYC.

Revenues from the Southeast Asian market will be minimal for the foreseeable future I’m afraid, unless we get a better television deal once the current one expires. Otherwise we are just not going to have the same kind of impact as some of the more established European teams. Sorry I don’t have any better news.
