CSC Awards Banquet

15 December 2007

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — The Chinatown Soccer Club announced the winners of its annual end-of-the-season awards as part of a festive Christmas banquet at Loreley on the Lower East Side on Tuesday night.

Coach Stochl presented ten current and former CSC stars with awards for a variety of achievements, both on and off the pitch, over the past twelve months.

“It’s an honor and a pleasure to present these awards. What enthuses me is seeing the players being recognized. We all need recognition and for someone to say well done,” the Austrian said.

Portland-born defender Jacob Cohen was named the most improved player of the 2006-2007 season, taking home what has arguably become the most coveted award of the night and succeeding his defensive partner Marco “The Berlin Wall” Spier.

“This is very special. It culminates and astonishing year for me,” Cohen said.

Hosi Simon, the former CSC midfield great and current head of the club’s scouting department, was officially named a club legend, joining the illustrious company of players like Andrew Sutherland and Charlie Becker.

“This is a very proud day for me and my family. To be inducted into the club’s pantheon is something I couldn’t even have dreamed about a few years back,” Simon said.
