Katz Secures Golden Boot
14 July 2008
New York (Chinatown Newswire) — Chinatown Soccer Club forward Owen Katz was awarded the Golden Boot for top scorer while on loan at Brooklyn based Bag Full of Fists at the end of June.
“I wish the service in the area was half as good as what I get while playing for the CSC, I would have scored 20,” Katz, who easily topped the scoring charts with ten goals (see below), said in an interview with the Newswire.
The technically skilled striker is expected to link up with the CSC for pre-season training and push hard to establish himself as a first-team regular, despite the looming presence of the oftentimes temperamental yet brilliant Mike Messenie on the club’s teamsheet.
“He [Katz] has without question all the qualities to be a Chinatown Soccer Club player and his progress over the last few months has been outstanding,” Coach Stochl said.
“He’s quick, aggressive, has a fantastic attitude, he’s a very good striker and he’s improving his technique all the time so I think he’ll give Messenie a run for his money,” the Austrian said.
