Fanatic VII

21 July 2008

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — More than a dozen members of the Chinatown Soccer Club will be competing in this year’s Fanatic tournament to be held on Manhattan’s West Side on Saturday, July 26.

The annual competition pits teams from a variety of New York creative collectives against one another and has evolved into one of the city’s most cherished summertime traditions over the years.

For the first time in its seven-year history the tournament will this year be held at Chelsea Waterside Park on 23rd Street and the West Side Highway.

In addition to the action on the pitch, a barbecue, booze and beats will be supplied by hosts Adidas between noon and 9 p.m.

Members of the Chinatown Soccer Club are competing on several teams starting with the CSC itself and fellow former finalists The Krauts.

Spectators might also spot the odd CSC player or two on the Psyop team as well as on the Syrup (winners of last years cup) and Bowery United squads.

Finally, the Chinatown Soccer Club in a statement today congratulated longtime member Janessa Bautista (seen below with her friend Travis) for making it onto the event’s official poster.
