The Untraceable Drug*
23 July 2008
What cyclists seemed to be told leading up to this years tour was that if they were going to dope, they would need to use Roche Pharmaceutical’s new version of EPO. The new version of the drug only needed to be used once per month and was untraceable using blood tests and urine anylysis.
Seems this is why a handful of riders this year decided the risk was worth taking. What they were not told was that a tracer installed into the new EPO durring the manufacturing stage red flagged then in any test. Pharmaceutical company Roche worked with the World Anti-Doping Agency to install the tracers so they could trace a, what once was untracable drug.
