New York (Chinatown Newswire) — The annual winter chill finally arrived in New York this past week, with temperatures well below freezing and the occasional snow shower dusting the famous Stanton Street ground during the Chinatown Soccer Club’s early morning training sessions.

Swedish winger and current holder of the club’s coveted Thunderstrike award, Jakob Daschek, who managed to capture a particularly magical moment on film (see below), even felt temporarily transported back to his childhood.

“This [the cold] is what it’s like playing in Sweden for seven months out of the year, so it’s no big deal for me really but I definitely noticed some of the lads from the West Coast like [Mike] Messenie and Cyrus [Chan] struggle a bit,” Daschek said.
