Lucky Dragons
6 January 2009
Last night I attended a lecture at PICA by Los Angeles based Lucky Dragons. Lucky Dragons are essentially a band, but their performances involve equal-power situations in which audience members cooperate amongst themselves to create sound, building up networks held together by skin contact, unfamiliar language, temporary logic, and things that work but you don’t know why. Their world is about building up social collectivities through the use of simple and accessible technology. The lecture was a performance in itself. Using only YouTube and Wikipedia, they searched for online resources as they spoke, intuitively illustrating their conversation with the audience.
