Honorees

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — A duo of longstanding Chinatown Soccer Club players was honored at an impromptu pitchside ceremony this morning (see below).
Veteran defender and substitute goalkeeper Minh Ngo received the Red Tape Wrangler award for repeatedly securing official permits from the City of New York, thus ensuring the club’s priority access to the popular Stanton Street ground on weekends.
Meanwhile, temperamental forward Mike Messenie became the latest recipient of the club’s coveted Thunderstrike award for his unwavering desire to strike at goal from almost any angle and his ability to boot the ball over several layers of fencing.
Both players missed the club’s traditional end-of-the-year banquet and awards ceremony in December but have since made strong starts into the new year.

Ngo posed with his award prior to training earlier today.

While Messenie was excited about being honored, his new Vermont wool jacket caused quite a stur with his teammates.
