Gigs

Thinking back to how data space, and it’s affordability has changed in what feels like a short window. This is a SyQuest disk. 200 megs was $200 in 1995. This is what we saved our video projects on. You would buy 4 of these, and save the 800 meg project in sections, and load the project from the 4 disks. 800$ = 800 megs.

Last week I picked up this 8 gig key shaped jump drive in Auckland. 30$

Three years ago I used to rent these compact flash cards because an 8 gig was 800$, now it’s faster, and 40$. Data and image capture is easy now, but a great idea recorded on it is as rare as it was back then.
