Walton heads back up to Portland for the Summer soon. Rainier, Blake and I sent him off by riding the hors catégorie, Mount Hamilton from the south-side, out of San Jose. The route took us firstly up Quimby Road –the better to insure a 0 to 190 BPM heart-rate in under 10 seconds– the ‘warm-up’ was a 1/2 mile ‘flat’ section before jumping directly into the belly of the beast…

All told it was 20 miles of continual climbing, the steepest section of which ramps up to 20%.
