Goodwood Festival Of Speed – Audi 100 years

10 July 2009

Last weekend I went to the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, one of the best car-themed events of the year as usual (the best one may actually be the Goodwood Revival). Every year a car manufacturer is the main sponsor, and commissions a huge sculpture to be displayed in front of the stately home. This year Audi celebrated their 100 year anniversary, and Gerry Judah’s sculpture was an stunning display of simplicity and a marvel of engineering.

I went there on the eve of the official opening for a dinner and some fireworks to unveil the sculpture. It was rather spectacular and eerie to discover it at night:

It looked good during the day too:

Much better pics over at Dezeen

Audi had some extremely brutal-looking old racing cars there, driven up the hill by legendary racers like Stig Blomqvist and Walter Rohrl:

Good logos on this one:

Amazing colors on these – Audi should bring this color combo back!
