Simon Withdraws From Krauts

21 July 2009

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — German midfield maestro Hosi Simon has issued a statement detailing his decision to opt against a surprise return to Coach Stochl’s Krauts on the eve of the annual Fanatic tournament, the Newswire has learned.

The news comes barely a year after Simon agreed a shock transfer to local rivals FC Vice and confirms the widely held belief among experts that the German was itching for a return to the club where he came of age as a player.

“After recent rumors and speculation in the press I feel the need the need to set the record straight and address the public,” Simon’s statement read.

“I was honored when Coach Stochl asked to meet me in a hotel bar lobby in Lower Manhattan this spring and discreetly inquired about the possibility of me rejoining the Krauts team for this year’s Fanatic tournament,” Simon said.

“But despite a high level of fitness as a result of an intense triathlon training schedule, my match sharpness is just not at the level I would need it to be prior to participating in such an important competition for a team that will always hold a special place in my heart,” the German said.

“After much consideration and discussions with Coach Stochl and senior players, we have therefore decided I will not be fielded this year,” the statement concluded.

Despite Coach Stochl’s persistent refusal to comment on the matter, sources close to the player revealed that the German pass master has been promised a spot on the Krauts team that will compete in the 2010 version of the popular tournament, assuming he can adjust his match fitness accordingly.
