FIFA World Cup 2010 – Architectural Tour
10 June 2010
With much anticipation the World Cup kicks off in South Africa tomorrow. All of the worlds best soccer players will be on-hand to represent their respective counties. Over the next month, we’ll see some spectacular matches between rival countries on the pitch. Events of this scale always require new architecture that takes the form of infrastructure and stadiums to accommodate the games and the new influx of visitors. Countries love to flex here as we’ve all seen with the architectural gems that sprang up during the ‘08 Olympics in Beijing. Here is a look at the new stadiums that will set the stage for the 2010 World Cup. It will be interesting to see how these are utilized 5 or 10 years from now once the games are long gone.
