Beep Beep!
7 December 2009
DFA reissued the 1983 album “Chomp” by Athens, Georgia legends Pylon, which has amazingly never been available on CD and never remastered. Rodney Mills remastered the album from the original reels, just like he did when DFA reissued Pylon’s debut 1981 album “Gyrate” a few years ago. Pylon are a true revelation and one of the absolute best post punk bands America ever had the good taste to spit out. Do not sleep on these albums!
Here is a video for the song Beep, from “Chomp”.

That Sumner Feeling
6 December 2009
Sumner has that summer feeling in this 1984 in-studio live performance at the BBC. Bernie wears both (short) white tennis shorts and a tank top, while Peter Hook looks like he came straight from the local gym. I love the way they begin the song, letting the machines run and casually finding their ways into the groove.
New Order “Temptation” - Live at BBC Radio 1 Studios, 1984
Flash back 3 years to NYC in 1981 and New Order are making their first American appearance at the Ukranian National Home. This is quite a different take on the song.

28 November 2009
Sebastian is a great singer and painter. He has been making some fantastic time lapse videos of the process he undergoes to create some of his works based on photo collage. The first painting/video features members of DFA / Paw Tracks band Black Dice and the second painting/video features his wife Isca Greenfield-Sanders (also an amazing artist) & son Hudson.
Check the videos out here:
He also had The Fader feature demo versions of 2 new songs for a record he is working on with Nicolas Vernhes at Rare Book Room Studios.
Download the music here:

Sebastian’s newest paintings will be part of the NADA Art Fair December 3-6 2009 in Miami Beach. He will be represented by the Josee Bienvenu Gallery.
Greenberg – LCD SOUNDSYSTEM scores the new Noah Baumbach film
24 November 2009
James scored the new film by Noah Baumbach called “Greenberg”. This trailer uses All My Friends for music, so we will just have to wait to hear anything new.
“It was great, but I didnt know it was music”
16 November 2009
……what David Niven allegedly said to Jaki from CAN when asked if he liked what he heard of a live show.
Great quote from a great overview of the Krautrock map and what bands/scenes started where in Germany. The film also helps explain why so many musicians simultaneously went on a determined quest to erase the past and create something wholly new. From the BBC in 6 parts.
One Week Passes….

This video, which we had just finished editing a week prior, is a true testament to the skills of Jerry Fuchs. He had ‘midi in’ and ‘midi out’ symbols tattoed on opposite arms. Part man, part machine.
I WILL REALLY MISS YOU, JERRY FUCHS
8 November 2009

Today was a really bad day Jerry and I could have used one of those big sweaty hugs you gave after a show, when you were genuinely excited and surprised to see me. “Galkin, what the fuck are YOU doing here?!”, you would exclaim, as if I didn’t ever attend the live shows from bands on my own label.
You were truly one of a kind, and whether you knew it or not, people wanted to be in the same room as you, or near the same room as you, because maybe just maybe, some of that radiant joy and in-the-moment spirit you exuded would rub off on them. You didn’t take it all with you, because there are a lot of people today who are going to feel mighty responsible to carry and spread that joy with them for the rest of the time they have here. And who knows now how long that might be.
You were a really good drummer, some might say the best we had, but you were a greater friend. I love you and miss you, Jerry.
Vladislav Delay
27 October 2009
Love Vladislav, in all his different disguises, Luomo, AGF/Delay, Uusitalo, The Dolls and of course under his own (fake) name Vladislav Delay. This new video is from the album Tummaa. I will always be partial to Anima, because it soundtracked dozens of hours while I stared at my newborn children sleeping.
But his records are most always superb for different reasons. This is for the song “Toive”.
