Skitsch by Apartamento
9 March 2010
Spent the last two months working tightly with the amazing Andy Rementer on a special editorial project for Milanese brand SKITSCH. A small publication which will be released on March 25 in London, during their new UK store opening, and Apartamento European readers will find inside their copy from late April. Just got this pic from our AD Omar Sosa at the printer and it’s looking really good!

Jasper’s Pictures
28 February 2010
It was supposed to be a once a month fixture for Vitra’s blog, but seems like it has become a bi-monthly affair, still if you appreciate Jasper Morrison’s work, it remains a very interesting extra directly from him onto your screens.

Pfeiffer
22 February 2010
Walter is one of those guys that no matter how much his work would get praised and his life more exciting year after year, he will still make time to meet you and would never stop being one of the nicest people I have ever met across the art and fashion world. We spent the whole of yesterday talking about his old apartments and looking at photos from his archive for a story in the next Apartamento. Really excited and worth the 8 hours train ride to and from Zurich!

And of course before jumping back on the train, managed to see Benjamin at Nieves. For anyone heading out there make sure you mark down the new address at Ankerstrasse 20, and if you get your hands on the latest Monocle you will find a great double spread on Nieves, which made me really happy!
Milano Libri
11 February 2010
There are a few shops which you think will be forever, they will always be there when you need that specific something. In the case of Milano Libri, a true gem for Milan, if you were looking for books and magazines, from the most popular ones to the rarest ones, is on the hedge of disappearing after 48 years of business. I just heard from a few distributors their financial situation is very bad, and there’s little possible to do. So if you happen to pop by in town anytime soon, make sure you pay a visit and don’t miss out on their shelves of rare publications on the first floor.
Tile Work
1 February 2010
Just got back from Barcelona for Apartamento’s bimonthly round up, everything is proceeding smoothly with a few special side projects under way which I hope to tell you soon, but the best thing this time was to finally step in a little office of our own after 2 years of being hosted around. I particularly love the floor’s tile work which is so typical of Barcelona and it feels so refreshing. Can’t wait to be back in the spring once it’s all properly set up and running.

Salone 2010
28 December 2009
Almost in the new year and finally getting back on track with a new computer, as the old one was losing bits everywhere, here is something I wanted to blog since London Design Festival but never got around to, Lars Frideen’s 10 degree chair for DesignMarketo, which was one of the best pieces I saw back then, and which brought me to meet Jerome Rigaud, the man, together with Alexandre Bettler, behind DesignMarketo.

I was so impressed with Jerome’s energy and positive attitude that we have recently decided to work together on a new project for Salone del Mobile in April 2010. There’s not too many details to be announced yet, beside the fact we will be working with the usual suspects and a bunch of new friends, but I am sure it will turn out pretty interesting and I hope to see many of you out here next Spring.
Kaffeeklatsch
19 November 2009
Heading out to Berlin this Sunday for some homemade cookies and coffee with our friends at do you read me?! We will have some special drawings for the little ones from Andy Rementer coloring book published in Kinder, an everyday life kids supplement, included in the latest issue of Apartamento. Bring your crayons!

Cooking Tokyo
28 October 2009
Again, I lost track of posting for a month, and so much in between has gone by, which I will hopefully get to write about later on. So for now just a quick post from Tokyo, where last night we had the release party of the fourth issue of Apartamento and its special Japanese edition supplement. To celebrate the whole thing we decided to bring some European flavours to the palate of our Japanese friends and after smuggling 16 kg of Italian goodies from Milan, we went on the never ending search for fresh ingredients, getting lost into cheap discount supermarkets, amazed into upscale delis, and too many hours in a car running around town, to prepare for our latest project, Tasca, a 5 days restaurant, which opened its doors today, thanks to the amazing techinical support of Iittala, Hiroshi at Utrecht and Mikiya at aMoule!

More from Tokyo soon!
Les Cahiers Purple
22 September 2009
I had the confirmation about the imminent release of Les Cahiers Purple directly from Elein while I was in Lisbon recently for Experimenta Design, but we couldn’t meet in the end, so in the meanwhile that I am waiting to get my hands on a copy, I recommend checking an interview with her by Juan Moralejo, for his own brand new platform FOCO.

The Incidental
21 September 2009
After too much traveling and not enough time spent in Milan, I am on the road again for London Design Festival. As I mentioned in a previous post Apartamento latest effort has been unveiled this morning. Richard Lamb: The Everyday Life Collector is a one week long exhibition/shop opening daily between 11 am and 6 pm. And if you will be in town on Thursday 24 night you are more than welcome to join us for a chat and a Peroni!

If you are also into running around town to see all the other events, the best guide for this is The Incidental, a project by the British Council, which was initiated during Milan’s Salone del Mobile last April and will be out and about this week to keep you company with the best tips on what to see and what to do! Below The Incidental office through their webcam.
