Michael Leon lecture, Cal Arts
14 April 2009
Speaking of lectures, I went to to see Arkitip Alumni Michael Leon speak this week at Cal Arts.
Stecyk was taking notes.
Melanie represented the Lance / CR / Leon curated specials.
And of course, Felipe was on hand to film.
Stacks on the comeback in 2009!

Telegrams
10 April 2009
“The telegram has a long, proud and important history in the development of person to person communications. It’s development enabled people to quickly send news around the globe, messages of congratulations, messages of sadness, messages that marked important events: such as the Wright brothers first flight in Kittyhawk.

We realised that these important messages became records that the recipient would keep as treasured memories and wanted to recreate something special that you, your family and friends would appreciate as a historical record.
Our telegrams are made to look and feel like a classic telegram from the original days when telegrams were one of the only forms of national and international communications.”

Saw a preview of the work last week and also heard where the title comes from.

Peter Saville, Los Angeles
2 April 2009
Had the pleasure of seeing Peter last night as he gave a lecture in Beverly Hills.
They could have given him 4+ hours to talk and it still would have not been enough.
A real treasure.
Below is the Chronicle we worked on for his issue edition.

Very interesting story about MagCloud from Hewlett-Packard.

“We’re not talking about replacing the Vanity Fairs of the world. But it’s a nifty idea for a vanity press that reminds me of the underground zines we had in the ’60s and ’70s.”
