Je Suis Une Bande De Jeunes
16 October 2009
Photos of everyday life, often not very well framed or against the light, photos of trips or meetings, of friendship…
Photos without big interest, free and just witnesses of times past.

JSBJ photography and publications.
La Bottega Marino
15 October 2009
One of the best tasting minestrone when the fall starts to hit Los Angeles. But the antipasto is the choice for the summer.
They also have a small section of Italian products imported direct that are not often seen in typical markets.

Studio Museo Achille Castiglioni
12 October 2009
No trip to Milano is complete without a visit to the Studio Museo Achille Castiglioni.

Housed inside a 18th-century palazzo in Milano where he dreamed up his designs from 1944 until his death in 2002. Five rooms full of working tools, prototypes, samples, objects, periodicals and items from his personal collections.
Grazie il mio fratello piccolo Marco for the suggestion.

Fresh herbs
10 October 2009
This sweet lady was selling the freshest herbs and spices right out of her garden in Santa Margherita.
Nothing like buying dime bags of oregano and thyme right on the street.

Quality over quantity. It’s a way of life around here…
Tom Sachs
9 October 2009
One of my all time favorites Tom Sachs recently closed his Cameras exhibition at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.

The exhibition brought together twelve works, from 1972 to the present which turn the tables on the usual artistic photographic process, where the image made with the camera is the “art” and the camera itself is merely a tool.
Playing off the consumer fetishization of photographic equipment, Sachs’s cameras simultaneously deconstruct the technology of photography while at the same time revealing that these ubiquitous machines are compelling subjects in and of themselves.
Genius.

‘Pop Life: Art in a Material World’
“Good business is the best art” – Andy Warhol
From Warhol to the YBAs, Koons to Kippenberger, artists have mixed commerce and glamour to promote their public image. Alongside works from these artists, Pop Life also includes pieces from Damien Hirst’s 2008 auction and a reconstruction of Keith Haring’s Pop Shop.

Abici
28 September 2009
While traveling through Italy this past month, you begin to realize that modes of transportation vary from city to city. One constant you see beside the buzzing of Vespa’s is bicycles.
Kevin mentioned Cigno la Bicicletta, which is for sure a favorite of mine. Along the same lines is Abici Italia.
Clean designs, no frills and simple hi-tech details with the shape kept intact by keeping the silhouette naked.

Coming to a street in Los Angeles soon, the Sveltina Uomo is my choice.
