Summer

24 August 2010

Hello again, hope everyone has had a nice summer.

I did. Except for a few trips to the country side and a week in Spain, the time was mostly spent in Copenhagen relaxing with the family, sweating at the studio and drinking with friends.

This summer I impulsively bought my first car, but also started running (again).. I met the crown princess, smoked weed on a submarine and played the drums for the first time since 6th grade. Good times.

About a month ago Karl and I went to Berlin to present the small collection we did for Italian luxury sports brand Ellesse. For the occasion we hosted a party at the children’s open-air pool at Monbijou Park. The atmosphere was great and I think everybody there had a really good time.

Francesco Scala, who supplied the soundtrack, put up his mix from the event (Part 1 & Part 2) + Ben Ross snapped some photos + German blogger Katja Hentschel did this small film.

The entire collection should be available at our webstore tomorrow.

Another project we got involved in this summer is the ‘Shanghay Chair’. Originally designed for the Danish Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo by our friends from design firm KiBiSi, the chair is composed of 4 small boards of moulded plywood folded around each other merging legs and seat, back and structure into the 4 constituent parts.

We helped KiBiSi develop six different colours carefully balanced to work together in new combinations. As the chairs are easy to disassemble and reassemble, people will be able to create their own hybrid designs by recombining their colours of choice.

The chair was just selected by Wallpaper magazine as one of the 100 best designed products of 2010. For anyone in Copenhagen there’s a presentation Thursday at HAY HOUSE, Østergade 61 from 4 to 10pm.

Next up is AW2011 and hopefully a short trip to Berlin for Michaels show.

Gypsy grave

27 May 2010

The Bulibasha (King) of the Romanian Gypsy Community died last week. Seems like he´s got everything a man needs with him in the grave, plasma, mobile phones, whiskey, womans hi-heels, cash, dvd and make-up.

Stuff

29 April 2010

Just a few things that has come through the door lately.

First up this bottle i got from a large Swedish vodka brand.
Now this is probably the best looking bottle of vodka I have ever seen (well except maybe for those home brew ones from Reykjavik in 98). No logo, just a recognizable shape and some alcoholic liquid inside.

When you have done 20 years of extensive branding you can get away with something like this. I mean after using that iconic shape for so many years of Absolut this and Absolut that, there it is: Absolut Vodka. So simple.

Actually I also got one of these leather studded ones, but I can’t seem to find it now. I strongly suspect Sanne for drinking it.

Also this new integrated handlebar/basket just came from our friends at Copenhagen Parts. This is the first product coming from this new cycling focused design company. As i can’t get this thing on my quill stem i wouldn’t know how it actually works on the street, but it does look very good. Looking forward to seeing more products coming from CP in the future.

And then we finally got our package from And Press, Eric Elms´ new publishing company. The highlight for me is Eric´s own book Wish You Were Here, a small 2-colour zine-like book on Kilroy. 224 pages of cultural references.

Just saw these great typographic illustrations by Jonathan Zawada. There´s a lot of other nice design work on his website, but these things impressed me the most.
Notice the small graphics on the left.

Here you can download the full zine, which was made to highlight the problem of injury in the workplace amongst 15-24 year old males
